The Adventures of Adam: Volume 1 - An Intern is Born!

June 12, 2009 by Bobby Ghoshal

Author's Note: What does it take to make it at Digitaria? Our latest team member, Adam Storr, found out over his first two weeks. The "Adventures of Adam" begins here and now. Hang on, it's going to be a wild summer.

My First Day The anxiety had been building up for weeks. It was my first day interning at an interactive advertising agency and I have to admit, I was a little panicked. I had no idea what to expect. Would Digitaria be just like working with Don Draper from Mad Men? Would I end up in "PC Load Letter" purgatory? Would I learn more about how my boss likes his coffee than about brand strategy? How low on the totem pole would I actually be?

I was about to find out...

Fast Forward Two Weeks
OK, Digitaria is amazing and (I have to admit) not at all what I expected. Working here is downright awesome! I have real responsibilities. I'm getting a chance to assist teams working on real projects for huge companies. I have even been able to help with some design and strategy for clients, as well as Digitaria’s outbound marketing and brand awareness campaigns.

The best way to sum up my first two weeks at Digitaria is simple... I have learned more about advertising and marketing in my time here than I have in three years of higher education. There is simply no better way of really learning than to accumulate real-life, hands-on experience.

Of course being surrounded by hyper-creative and intelligent people who are warm and open doesn't hurt either. Count me as the newest (and proudest) member of the Digi family.

To be continued...

Adam Storr, a senior at San Diego State University, is a Marketing Major and former President of the SDSU Chapter of the American Marketing Association. Digitaria firmly believes in the passion and knowledge that our interns bring to the company. We hope Adam enjoys the rest of his stay with us!

Well, good luck to you Adam! and congrats on getting the job. You will see for sure that most of your knowledge will come from hands on experience, and it is good you realize it now, so that you may take advantage of all opportunities since the very beginning.
