The Adventures of Adam: Volume 2 - The Choices We Make

June 26, 2009 by Adam Storr

In case you missed Volume 1: http://blogs.digitaria.com/blogs/adventures-adam-volume-1-intern-born

In a time where jobs are scarce and competition is fierce, I am very fortunate to have found an opportunity at Digitaria. Which begs the question, how was I able to find such an invaluable internship when most of my contemporaries are left wondering what their future holds?

To me, life is all about decisions. More often than not, I've found that choices made in passing are often the ones I look back on as defining moments in my personal journey. Rewind a month...

I rolled out of bed like it was any other day. Stretch, brush teeth, grab a bite, check my email... wait a sec.

SUBJ: READ ME.

What's this? An email from my roommate. All caps. Ugh. This can't be good. My roommates only email me when I've either a.) done something horribly wrong or b.) been horribly wronged. I braced for the worst and clicked.

Marketing, Twitter and Business, oh my!

June 17, 2009 by Michele Rihlmann-Burke
I like to tweet. Tweeting makes me happy and fulfills that sneaky impulse that creeps up throughout my work day urging me to share my latest random thought with anyone who will listen (or read). Not everyone who likes to Tweet is as lucky as me. I get to do it for work. Yup- Digitaria actually pays me to spew a constant stream of ideas, observations and articles to engage, and hopefully inspire, our @digithoughts Twitter followers. Because all the cool kids are doing it (not just me -- I promise). And who exactly are these cool kids? A hodgepodge of celebrities, CEOs, news publications, event representatives, companies, bloggers, musicians, athletes, some guy that works down the hall from you, and some little known politicians (Barack Obama ring a bell?).

The Adventures of Adam: Volume 1 - An Intern is Born!

June 12, 2009 by Bobby Ghoshal

Author's Note: What does it take to make it at Digitaria? Our latest team member, Adam Storr, found out over his first two weeks. The "Adventures of Adam" begins here and now. Hang on, it's going to be a wild summer.

My First Day The anxiety had been building up for weeks. It was my first day interning at an interactive advertising agency and I have to admit, I was a little panicked. I had no idea what to expect. Would Digitaria be just like working with Don Draper from Mad Men? Would I end up in "PC Load Letter" purgatory? Would I learn more about how my boss likes his coffee than about brand strategy? How low on the totem pole would I actually be?

I was about to find out...

My Life in the Cloud – Part 1

June 01, 2009 by Michael Brown

Recently, the laptop I've been using for the last four years tanked on me due to a severe Windows error (yes, I'm PC owner - shoot me). This is an event that would have ruined my life two years ago, but this time around I was quite lacksadaisical about it all. How is this possible? After doing some thinking about it, I realized that the big difference between now and two years ago is that now most of my digital life is "in the cloud."

For the uninitiated, "the cloud" is, put simply, the Internet. Nearly everything that matters to me (digitally speaking) is stored on the Internet somewhere and available from any computer at any time. This shift has occurred slowly and is so ingrained in how I do things now, that I wasn't even conscious of the peace of mind and organization that it has brought to my life.
