Daiga Atvara Named OMMA Creative All-Star
Digitaria Executive Creative Director and co-founder Daiga Atvara has been named a 2012 Online Creative All-Star by OMMA Magazine. She will be recognized at OMMA’s Creative Awards Dinner in New York City on October 2nd, in the midst of Advertising Week.
Ms. Atvara was recognized by OMMA for being the embodiment of the American Dream: Born in Latvia and attending The Academy of the Arts in Riga, the Baltic nation’s capital, she emigrated to the United States after winning a scholarship to Humbolt State University, in California’s redwood country. There she studied and created sculpture, mastering welding, bronze, pouring and metal work.
Following graduation, she moved to San Diego in the mid-1990s, where she became intrigued by the fledgling world of digital design. Her growing interest brought her into contact with Dan Khabie, and the pair went on to found Digitaria in 1997. The company has grown dramatically in the 15 years since, and was acquired by WPP and aligned with JWT in 2010.
In 2012, Ms. Atvara’s digital design expertise has been recognized and honored for work with clients including Qualcomm, NBC/Universal, Discover America, Taylor Guitars, Under Armour and the NFL, among others. Just this week, Digitaria’s creative department won Best in Show, a Gold and eight silver W3 Awards.
This is Ms. Atvara’s second significant professional recognition in 2012. In August, she was named one of Advertising Age’s Women to Watch.
