Digitaria Adds Chief Client Officer, A New Position
Continuing to adapt and evolve as it grows and becomes a more significant player in the digital marketing environment, Digitaria, a JWT Company, has hired Mike Vaccaro in the new role of Chief Client Officer, overseeing all client services for North America.
Vaccaro, 36, was most recently managing director of HUGE L.A., where he led that office for 1½ years as it grew in size from 22 employees to 80, servicing clients like Samsung, Celebrity Cruises and National Geographic.
In his new role, Vaccaro will move from Los Angeles to return to San Diego, where he graduated from San Diego State University and originally started his advertising career. It was in San Diego where Vaccaro launched his own digital agency, PurMedia at the age of 24. After meeting his future wife, Vaccaro departed PurMedia and took on the L.A. market, where he spent eight years at a series of large digital marketing companies, including MRM and iCrossing, where he became VP, Managing Director. He then jumped to HUGE when the IPG shop started its big west coast push in 2011, as Managing Director of the L.A. office.
“Mike is an extremely accomplished, intelligent and socially gifted digital professional who knows how to work with people on both the agency side and the client side to bring out the best in everybody,” said Dan Khabie, Digitaria’s chief executive officer. “Since our merger with JWT Minneapolis and the number of new clients we added in 2012, Digitaria has reached a point where we need someone who understands the many different facets of what we do as a company and can keep our clients and employees on the same page and happy. Mike’s that person.”Vaccaro said he’d been looking to get out of L.A. since he and his wife started a family, and was gratified to hear Digitaria was looking for someone with his expertise.
“To find this successful an agency in San Diego is amazing,” Vaccaro said. “The opportunity at Digitaria is refreshingly different than any of my past roles, where I had to come in and either rebuild the agency or set up something new altogether. Here, it’s great that I’ve been able to come in from day one and just get to work.”
Over the past year, Digitaria has been named Digital Agency of Record for Rolex, Petco, LPGA, Ironman, USA Triathlon and the San Diego Padres. In 2012, the agency experienced a roughly 60% growth in revenue over 2011, and absorbed the Minneapolis office of JWT.
