Digitaria Brings Fresh New Look To KCRW Homepage

KCRW, the legendary Los Angeles public radio station, tapped Digitaria to design a new look for the KCRW.com homepage in celebration of the launch of the new KCRW music stream Eclectic 24.

The new KCRW homepage brings a more colorful, modern aesthetic, while showing a more focused content architecture. The homepage was designed to reflect the different types of KCRW fans and clearly directs them to the content they are looking for whether it be music, news or on-air material.

"With the new homepage, we were very thoughtful about the different types of KCRW users. We segmented the content in a way that would provide the most information and opportunity for exploration, without overwhelming the user, says Michael Brown, VP, Media & Entertainment at Digitaria.

Additionally, Digitaria designed the landing page for the new Eclectic 24 music stream (www.kcrw.com/music/eclectic24). On this page, KCRW and Digitaria collaborated to create a page that acts as a central hub for fans of KCRW music programming. The new page enables further exploration around the artists featured on the Eclectic 24 stream, along with additional music features like Top 10 Albums, ticket giveaways, music news and upcoming events. Both the KCRW homepage and the Eclectic 24 page feature a live streaming player.

"Partnering with Digitaria on this project was truly a collaborative effort. We started with a list of desired features and ended up with two site pages that exceeded our expectations. The Digitaria team showed a passion for their work, as always, and a commitment to user-centered design," says Anil Dewan, Director of New Media at KCRW.

The partnership between KCRW and Digitaria represents the second significant engagement for the two companies. The first being the KCRW media player, designed and built by Digitaria in 2008.
