Meet Erin Goerner: Senior Producer and Halloween’s FREAKIEST Fan!

Oct 31, 2014

For some, October 31 is just another holiday. A day where it’s okay to eat five too many Twix bars, scare the crap out of your neighbor’s kids and dress up like your client just to embarrass him in a meeting. For Erin Goerner, one of our Senior Producers, Halloween takes on an entirely new meaning—one that’s helped her win our annual Digitaria costume contest every year since she’s been here.

For as long as she can remember, Erin takes dressing up to an entirely new level of fun—it might even be on the slight side of insanity. Let’s be honest, the girl painted her entire body green (see above). Talk about “freaky” dedication.

For those who don’t know Erin, she’s probably the nicest person you will ever meet, and one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t come as a surprise that she has the drive to put together amazing costumes year after year, but she continues to shock us with what she comes up with.

I decided to interview this rock star producer to find out why she loves Halloween so much, and how the heck she manages to pull it off every year.

Digitaria: What inspires you to go all-out for Halloween?

Erin Goerner: It just makes me happy. I don't know how to explain it, but as soon as October hits, I get so excited! It's costumes and parties and getting together with friends. I am also competitive. My drive might also come from wanting to make a better costume than the year before.

Digi: What were your childhood Halloween experiences like?

EG: Halloween was so much fun. All the kids on my street got together and went trick-or-treating. I remember running crazy through the neighborhood. Kids and laughter everywhere!

Digi: How do you find inspiration for your costumes?

EG: Pinterest. Pinterest. Pinterest. As soon as I have an idea I start pinning and pulling ideas off different costumes until I have something I want to do.

Digi: What's your favorite costume?

EG: Miss Argentina from Bettlejuice (pictured at the top). It took a lot of work but I had the best time making it.

Digi: Your least favorite?

EG: Not sure...

Digi: The most challenging costume?

EG: The one I'm currently working on now. It has been challenging and frustrating at times, but I hope it will be all worth it!

Digi: What's your favorite Halloween candy?

EG: I don't have a specific Halloween candy. I'm not really a big candy person but I love Twix and will eat a lot of them on Halloween.

Digi: When did you stop going trick-or-treating?

EG: The last time I remember going was in middle school but I must have gone at least once in high school.

Digi: Best Halloween memory?

EG: Dressing up as a Hershey’s kiss in the fifth grade. My parents made my costume and I remember feeling so cool it in. ha.

We can’t wait to see what Erin’s got in store for this year’s costume contest!
